What to Pack for a Family Beach Day
A complete, mom-tested-style packing checklist for a family beach day with kids.

For a family beach day, pack in three groups: sun protection (sunscreen, hats, shade), comfort (water, snacks, towels, a change of clothes), and play (a few sand toys and a ball). Bring more water and sunscreen than you think you'll need, and keep a small first-aid kit in the bag.
The beach-day checklist
- Sunscreen (and reapply plan)
- Hats and UV-protective clothing
- Shade: umbrella or pop-up tent
- Water and easy snacks
- Towels and a change of clothes each
- A few sand toys and a ball
- Small first-aid kit
- Wet bag for sandy clothes
