Product Review Methodology

How we research products, what our recommendations mean, and why a commission never changes a pick.

How we choose what to recommend

We start from the questions parents actually ask, then research the options against criteria that matter for that product — things like safety, durability, ease of use, age-appropriateness, and value. We weigh manufacturer information, credible expert guidance, and broad patterns in verified customer feedback.

What our recommendations claim — and don't

When a guide is based on hands-on testing, we say so and describe how we tested. When it is a researched buying guide rather than a hands-on test, we say that too. We do not publish “we tested” language for products we have not actually tested, and we never invent ratings, sample sizes, or lab results.

Pricing

Prices change constantly, so we don't hard-code them. Our links go to the retailer, where you can check the current price — that's why our buttons say “Check Current Price.”

Independence from commissions

Some links are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them. Which products we recommend is decided editorially, before any commercial consideration, and a higher commission never earns a better placement. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full details.

Updates

Products get discontinued and better options appear. We revisit our buying guides and update picks as the market changes, noting when a guide was last reviewed.
