I Have An Addiction

Closeup on young woman watching tv in loft apartmentI understand the first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one. Well today I will take my first step toward recovery.

Hi, my name is Clearissa and I am addicted to night time soap operas. There I said it! I really have a problem. I am addicted to several, including The Atlanta Housewives, The Haves and the Have Nots, Being Mary Jane, Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away With Murder, and my all-time favorite, for now, Empire. Throw in all of the DIY shows I love,  such as reruns of the now defunct Nate Burkus Show, Flea Market Flip and my new favorite in this genre, Fixer Upper and I have become a TV junkie.  I blame it on my DVR. Surely you are not surprised I am not accepting responsibility for this…right? 🙂 Having the DVR makes it easy to watch these shows whenever I want which means I never have to miss an episode. Oh woe is me!

This addiction has progressed over the last couple of years. Before this addiction I would grab a book when I climbed into bed. Not anymore, now I grab my TV remote – I am so ashamed! There was a time I would play music if I were cleaning the house or cooking a meal, now I turn on the DVR in each room when I clean and the one in the kitchen if I’m preparing a meal.  I know, I know, I am bad! Before my addiction, if I were working on my computer I generally worked with music playing or in silence, not anymore. Now I turn on my DVR. Do you see a pattern here?

This addiction brings me great pleasure. Someone help me please. I enjoy all of the drama, laughter, back-biting, murder and mayhem I would not dare accept in my life; however, I am knee-deep in the muck and mire of the characters of these shows and I like it!
