Are crib bumpers safe?


There are several sides to the big debate surrounding crib bumpers. Many researchers and doctors will tell you to stay away from crib bumpers because they can contribute to SIDS. If the baby rolls over into the bumper, they could struggle to breathe. This tends to be the most common attitude toward bumpers.

On the other hand, many argue that your baby could an arm or leg stuck between the crib bars. The result could be a broken limb. Additionally, your baby could also get bruises and bumps from banging against the bars.

It is wise to discuss your options with a pediatrician before putting a bumper in your child’s crib.
