Diaper rash is not always preventable, but there are certainly a few things you can do to keep your little one from experiencing the pain and discomfort associated with the condition.
For starters, prevent diaper rash by changing your baby’s diaper often. Newborns need a diaper change about every two hours to start with. Additionally, change your baby’s diaper right away when you notice a bowel movement.
Make sure that the diaper you use fits correctly. Some diapers cause too much friction, resulting in a rash.
Finally, make sure to use diaper rash cream. Sensitive babies will benefit from a petroleum ointment.
