7 Steps in Goal Setting for 2015

With only a few more days left of holidays, it is an important time for Mompreneurs to start setting goals for the coming year, and to make 2015 the most successful year yet.

1. Set your goal:

A goal is a dream with a deadline and the more detailed your goal, the more achievable it becomes. Ensure your objective is measurable or quantifiable, and commit to a date in which to achieve the goal. A business goal may to increase profit, so set a numerical target (whether a percentage increase or actual dollar amount) and a date in which to achieve this goal. The goal should be realistic to you, yet something that needs to be worked towards.

2. Write down your goal:
This deserves its own step because it really is that important. Writing the goal down adds accountability; you have said that you will do it, and you are more likely to hold yourself accountable to that. Writing down your goal and putting it somewhere that is easily visible also helps to keep it front of mind. Another tip is to write in the present tense, as if it is already achieved, because it helps your mind to believe and fully commit to the goal.

3. Focus on your Why:
Why do you want to achieve this goal, in this time period, why is it important to you. Why have you chosen THIS goal, and not something else? For example if you have chosen a goal of increasing your profit, why is this goal important to you? Would you be able to better provide for your family, perhaps take a trip together? Make sure this is clear in your head because it is this reason that will help you to achieve your goals in 2015.
